The 2023 auction year of Flanders Foal & Embryo Auction will have a promising start. The first embryo auction is planned for Saturday 14 January, in Abu Dhabi no less. The Arabian Emirates are not new for the team of Flanders Foal & Embryo Auction, but this location is. ‘Flanders’ is a guest of the international show of Al Shira’aa Stables.
Event Director Samantha Kettle shares her enthusiasm about the new concept at the Al Shira’aa Horse Show. “I have to say, this was all down to the vision of HH Sheikha Fatima. When she asked me if it would be possible, it fell during the time of the Flanders auction at Il Borro in Italy, where my colleague Alicia and I were at the time.”
Luk Van Puymbroeck and Gerald Lenaerts did not take long to formulate the answer: “Of course we will do it! We have already had five auctions in the Emirates, but this location is too good to let slip through our fingers. It is a 4* show of great repute and there will be a good atmosphere. We already know for sure that the team from Al Shira’aa will do anything to make this a success.”
Event Director Samantha Kettle is looking forward to the new cooperation: “I have been to a lot of auctions in my life, but I must say the professionalism of the Flanders team really stood out to me. When Al Shira’aa work with people in the sport, we only choose to work with the best and I know I can put full trust in them to provide the 5* service to our clientele in the UAE and online. I am also extremely excited to bring this new concept to the show, to generate some excitement, offer the very best embryos out of strong damlines, and to keep ties in the sport between the UAE and Europe.”
A total of twenty embryo’s will be on sale, that will be born that same year. Al Shira’aa Stables already bought several at Flanders, during the editions in Sharjah but also recently in Italy. Several foals have already been born at LVP Stables, where Luk Van Puymbroek takes care of their rearing. “We will again have a fantastic collection and are very motivated to auction at this location.”
