Youhorse.auction set off 2023 with a sparkling online show. The topper on Tuesday, January 3 was the Verdi TN son Ongering. After a fierce bidding duel this 4-yr-old stallion went to Great Britain for 50.000 euro.
Mario Everse was pleased with the first auction results of 2023: “We started the year well with a few remarkable sales! The collection mainly consisted of youngsters, many of them will only be 3-yr-olds this year. You always have to wait and see how the market will react to this but, fortunately, they were well received.”
The owners of the 2019 born Ongering (Verdi TN x Concorde) have good reason to pop another bottle of champagne right after the New Year’s one. The tall bay stallion created a fierce bidding duel between buyers from Mexico and Great Britain. The latter will be the new homeland for the top-class talent. Mario Everse had immediately recognized the stallion’s qualities: “In spite of his tender age, he is a very remarkable horse. On the selection day we had him jump a line under saddle. He is a very complete horse with a lot of power and we expect to see him back in the big sport.” Ongering is bound to follow in the tracks of his half-brothers currently acting at 1.55m and 1.45m level.
Returning clients
The well-bred 4-yr-old Lucky Bastard Tandhof Z (Luigi d’Eclipse x Comme d’Api vd Hacienda) is preparing for his journey to the USA. “This gelding jumps with a lot of quality. Remarkable detail is that his buyer has been shopping in our auction before. It is a good sign that buyers return to us” says Mario Everse.
The 4-yr-old Arte Nuevo vh Beeckhof Z (Amadeo van ’t Vossenhof x Vigo d’Arsouilles) also went to someone who had bought at the auction before. This gelding went for 19,000 euro to Iran.
The collection also included two broodmares this time. The young Chou-Chou FFA Z (Calato x Carisco) was claimed by Ireland for 12,000 euro. The 5-yr-old mare from the line of the legendary Chellano Z is in foal to Le Blue Diamond van ’t Ruytershof. There were also two horses sold to the Czech Republic and Hungary and buyers from Albania, Latvia and Rumania also placed winning bids. “It is great to see how buyers from these countries continue to increase their market share. Naturally there were also buyers from the regular countries such as Germany, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Canada, Denmark, Norway and, not to be forgotten, the Netherlands”, Mario Everse tells us.
Selection days 16 & 17 January
Mario Everse immediately focusses on the next auction. “I was already taking a peep at how many people have entered for the next selection days”, he says with a smile. “We, Youhorse.auction, are looking for the really special and better kind of horses. Entry is still possible via the special entry form on the website. On 16 January there will be a selection day for the free jumping horses and on 17 January it is the turn of the horses under saddle. After that we decide on the selection for the Valentine auction that ends on 7 February.”
