The second edition of the Belgian Youngsters Auction on Saturday-night 13 May was very exciting. Although the auction of young jumping horses was taking place live in Bonheiden, Belgium, most of the action happened online. Bids from all over the world were received and so it happened that the 3-yr-old Uldorado van ’t Lapbosch VR (Eldorado van de Zeshoek) was pinched by Mexico. The very powerfully jumping stallion went for 32,000 euro.
“To be fair, we did not manage to sell all of the 17 horses. There was no interest for the 2-yr-olds, in spite of them being of real good quality. But we are still very pleased. It is a rather new auction and a lot of confidence has been shown already in the horses. A number of them were sold on the spot and there was great activity online. As the auction will grow, this tendency will increase. We will certainly continue, the next auction has already been planned for 30 September”, says Luk Van Puymbroeck, organizer of this auction, together with Valentijn De Bock and father and son Daniel and Nicolas Boudrenghien.
The best conclusion to be drawn is, according to the organizers, that, considering the price/quality ratio, the buyers have done good business. “They will be happy with these horses. These were good investments!”
One online bidder from Poland bought two horses: Ottorongo Sitte (Ottorongo Alpha x Ogano Sitte) for 27,000 euro and Unseen van ’t Blijbosch (Ermitago Kalone x Ugano Sitte) for 23,000 euro. Ultimate Height (Untouchable x Cornet Obolensky) went for 27,000 euro to Romania. Kingsley Van Schuttershof (Kashmir Van Schuttershof) will leave for the USA for 17,000 euro, the country where grandam Swinny du Parc jumped many successful 1.60m Grand Prix’s.
The next Belgian Youngsters Auction will take place on Saturday 30 September during the great and popular breeding event from the horsey-family Boudrenghien in Ghlin. “We also let the horses do free jumping there. That will have an even greater impact”, are the expectations from Valentijn De Bock. “We are looking forward to again compiling a strong collection of young jumping horses.”
