An evening filled with entertainment and champagne popping bottles is a guarantee during the Quality Auction nights. But record-breaking bids were also guaranteed this weekend. For the second night in a row Zangersheide broke its own record with Emmerby vd Berghoeve Z (Emerald x Nabab de Reve) selling for a record-breaking price of 300.000 euro to the USA.
Battle of the bids
A battle of the bids started when lot number 77 entered the arena. The price for the Emerald daughter out of 1.50m jumping mare Kirby de Muze went up and up. With finally two bidders trying to have the last word on the beautiful bay filly, while the crowds were clapping and cheering for both parties. When the hammer finally went down, Spy Coast Farm (USA) was able to call itself the proud new owner of Emmerby vd Berghoeve Z.
Fit for Fun colt also a top seller
The second highest selling foal was the eagerly anticipated Emotion for Fun Z (Eldorado van de Zeshoek). The direct son of Fit for Fun, carried by the legendary mare herself, ranked up a price of 165.000 euro. This colt’s full brother – Especial For Fun Z – broke the highest selling record of a foal ever last year at the Quality Auction.
Record upon record
Not only the price of highest selling lot broke a record that was set only 24-hours earlier with Camilla JL Z (Cornet Obolensky x Nabab de Reve) selling for 200.000 euro. The average prices paid for the 42 foals that were auctioned off Saturday night were higher than ever before. The fillies sold very-well with an average price of 71.625 euro! The colts raised an average of 44.273 euro bringing the total average price to 55.789 euro.
The bidders that secured a foal came from all over the world, such as the Unites States of America, the United Arab Emirates, Switzerland, Spain, Poland, Ireland, Germany, France and the Netherlands. A little less than 50% of the foals will remain in Belgium.
