Breeding material in demand at Youhorse.auction

Youhorse.auction organised a special edition that entirely revolved around breeding. A varied collection of interesting broodmares, promising yearlings and embryos with strong pedigrees changed hands on Tuesday evening, January 16. The highest auction prices were realised by the unborn foals.

Mario Everse is pleased with the results: “Something different for a change; a collection without ridden horses but packed with valuable breeding material. Naturally, we had to wait and see how this would be received, especially since spring still feels far away with the current temperatures here. Fortunately, buyers showed to be looking forward to the breeding season ahead and almost all horses and embryos were sold!”

The highest sum of the evening, 15.000 euro, was paid for a foal to be born by Comme Il Faut out of Rodrigo Pessoa’s 1.60m Grand Prix mare Tinkabell 12 (by Casco). The Conthargos x Kannan cross from the renowned Roosakker-line let the virtual gavel drop at 14.000 euros. The embryo of Kashmir van Schuttershof out of T.Amelusina II (by Calando), a mare that has already produced eight international showjumping horses so far, also drew a lot of attention. This genetic gem yielded 12.000 euros. Remarkably, all three embryos were acquired by bidders from the United States.

Irish buyers revealed to be particularly keen on Chacco-Blue progeny. They purchased two implanted embryos by this top stallion, one from the damline of Panama du Seigneur and one out of Big Star’s half-sister.

Six horses and embryos changed hands within the Dutch borders. The United States shared the runner-up position with Romania with five purchases. The last-named country will become the new home of the most expensive broodmare Mea Culpa (Invictus x Phin Phin) that was sold for 10,500 euros. The seven-year-old half-sister of the 1.60m Grand Prix mare Dizzy Lizzy is in foal to the celebrated sire Tangelo van de Zuuthoeve. A bidder from Australia bought four broodmares, while Austria placed the winning bid on three lots. Buyers from Turkey invested in two broodmares.

Valentine’s auction on February 6
Youhorse.auction’s next auction is scheduled for Tuesday, February 6. “In this Valentine’s auction, we will offer loose jumping talents and ridden horses. We have just finished the selection and video days and I can already divulge that it is going to be a fantastic collection! So, keep a close eye on our website www.youhorse.auction, because they will be published online at the end of next week,” discloses Mario Everse.
