Belgian Mare Auction kicks off with a bang as Chaccolonie fetches €58,000

With its very first edition, the Belgian Mare Auction has secured a prominent spot on the auction calendar—there is no doubt a sequel will follow. During this live and online auction on Wednesday evening, December 18, 18 of the 21 broodmares were sold, with the six-year-old Chaccolonie (Chacfly PS) setting the tone with a storming start at €58,000.

The auction took place in the stunning indoor arena of Suus Kuyten in Eemnes, where showjumping horses had been auctioned the evening prior under the banner of Suus Kuyten Auctions. The Grand Prix rider organized the broodmare auction together with the Belgian De Wilde family, and it was an immediate hit. The sold broodmares, which included pregnancies or frozen embryos, fetched an average price of €21,882. Buyers hailed not only from the Netherlands and Belgium but also from Egypt, Ireland, France and the United States.

“We are truly delighted with how everything went and the positive feedback we’ve received afterward. It was incredibly cozy, exactly what we’d hoped for, and the sales were excellent. We feel fortunate to have collaborated with Suus and everyone involved in making her auction a success. Clipmyhorse, the caterer, the music, the staff—everything was perfectly coordinated. That really reduces the stress of organizing an auction for the first time. I can absolutely see a second edition happening here,” said Marco De Wilde with a smile.

Pony fetches €4,600
The evening began with the auction of the charity pony Roosje, which sold for €4,600 to Patrick De Roeck from Belgium. The proceeds will be donated to the Children’s Cancer Fund.

Highest-priced broodmare
The first broodmare of the evening stole the show with a price tag of €58,000. Chaccolonie (Chacfly PS x Baloubet du Rouet), a six-year-old mare with a stunning conformation and half-sister to nine international showjumping horses including two at 1.60m Grand Prix level, was sold with a frozen embryo by Cornet Obolensky. She is moving to Belgium.

Daughter of Anka
C-Anka (Cornado I x Argentinus), another gorgeous mare with impressive presence, was hammered down for €40,000. This daughter of World Cup Final winner Anka, ridden by Marcus Ehning, was sold along with a frozen embryo of herself and Emerald van ’t Ruytershof. Supersoldy vd Heffinck (Chacco Blue x Contact van de Heffinck), along with a frozen embryo by Balou du Reventon, sold for €38,000. Supersoldy is bred out of the half-sister of the 1.60m Grand Prix horses Romeo 88 with Harrie Charles and Check Picobello Z.

The 11-year-old Elektra Hero Z (Elvis Ter Putte x For Pleasure), including a frozen embryo by Ermitage Kalone, was sold online for €30,000 to Texas, USA. She is a sister of L’Esprit Hero Z (1.60m Grand Prix with Dermott Lennon) and nine horses competing at 1.40m–1.50m level.
“We want to thank everyone who attended or followed the auction online. We wish everyone a happy and prosperous 2025!”
